People all across the world of anti oxidants as they are supposed to help us look and feel younger. However, not many are aware of the counter research that says quite the opposite.

Anti oxidant vitamins namely are beta carotene (a kind of Vitamin A), Vitamin C and E. When almost 30 per cent Americans are taking vitamin supplements to ward off old age, the American Heart association comes up with this report that may be the rosy picture created around the excellent effects of antioxidants are not true. This is because the data based on which the fact was revealed was incomplete. Now when more researches have taken place in this field, the picture is becoming clearer. However, more researches have to be done to make the facts conclusive and concrete.

What The Doctors Advise?

The doctors do not subscribe to the idea of having anti oxidant vitamin supplements. They believe only a balanced diet devoid of trans fat and saturated fat can help us maintain a healthy life. This is because the research that told the world about the benefits of anti oxidants are facing counter attacks by other experiments. Some studies even show that taking supplements might actually be bad.

So, what the doctors say is to maintain a healthy lifestyle without depending on supplements. Our diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fiber etc.
