Vitamin Supplements Don’t Help Older Women

Posted on February 10, 2009 in Latest News

There is a bad news for women who have been taking vitamin supplements to keep away from chronic diseases like heart disease or cancer. A recent study conducted in New York City has proved that women are just not affected if they are taking supplements. Both the diseases are two of the most potent killers in women.

Vitamin Supplements Don’t Help Older Women

The researchers said that when an individual extracts vitamins from a meal that is very different from taking a pill as the pill can never be a substitute for it. Any natural source of vitamin is complex and it is not possible to create a replica of it  in the form of a pill. The study showed that women are less able to absorb vitamins from supplements than men. Taking pills doesn’t make a difference in a woman’s body.

At the most a vitamin supplement will help one to maintain the vitamin balance but not take care of chronic diseases at all. This comes as a major blow because half of America take supplements.Again many used to take these pills to stay away from these diseases.

The women who were studying were ones who take decent diets , so the doctors are still thinking whether supplements can work if the woman is not into a proper diet.

So, the advice is to choose a well balanced diet so that women don’t have to rely on an artificial and ineffective source for vitamins.

bad news indeed. in this case, it’s definitely important to go natural and avoid synthetic vitamins, and i think this should apply to younger women, as well.
