Smoking and Vitamin Supplements A Dangerous Combination

Smoking as most of us know is a very dangerous habit. However, some of us in spite of knowing this truth continue to smoke causing great harm to our body and try to wash away the guilt by taking in vitamin supplements. What most of us don’t know is that smoking and vitamin supplements do not go hand in hand. They are either useless to the body or cause more greater harm to the body.

Smoking destroys the body’s capacity to accept vitamins greatly. According to experts smoking greatly interferes with the absorption of vitamin C and D.  Smoking greatly weakens the body muscles, resulting in their poor function.

Also, taking in high doses of beta-carotene when smoking can cause great damage to the body. So in order to be on the safer side smokers should try and negate the harmful effects of smoking by taking in lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, instead of supplements.

And most importantly the greatest favor one can do for themselves is avoid smoking.
