One needs energy to perform our daily activities well. Nourishing diet will ensure this. If the diet is not proper then we suffer from illnesses and become non-functional. Proper intake of vitamins is essential for adequate body energy.

Do Vitamins Provide Energy?
Vitamins do not directly serve as a source of energy, but they aid the enzymes that generate energy from the energy producing nutrients like protein, carbohydrates and fats. Thus, they play an important role in helping out in the chemical reaction that leads to fruitful generation of energy, which enables you to perform your daily routine activities effectively.

Adequate vitamin intake promotes health fitness, by strengthening the bones and teeth. It makes your immune system strong, thereby enabling you to overcome various kinds of infections. For example, vitamin B3 works in combination with coenzyme Q10 and contributes a great deal in boosting your energy levels.

Vitamin B6 plays a vital role in human metabolism. Vitamin B12 acts as an active participant in the biochemical reactions that lead to the production of energy. Infact, it is for this reason that vitamin B12 is sometimes also referred as energy vitamin. Vitamin C is requisite for the synthesis of a small molecule named carnitine that helps in transporting fat to the cellular organelles called mitochondria, for its conversion into energy.

Balanced Diet and Optimum Level of Health
A balanced diet enables us to obtain all essential nutrients present in a wide range of foods. It should provide the required vitamins and minerals for increased energy levels. If the diet is balanced then it leads tooptimum health and vitality,increased energy levels for physical activity. Optimum health means less illness and health complications.

One should consume more grains, fresh fruits and vegetables to increase the energy levels, low fat intake, especially saturated fats, reduce sugar intake, lower salt intake for optimum health.

One should get adequate carbohydrates for higher energy levels. This is available in foods such as pasta, rice, cereals,breads. Flour based food are also good to consume. Only one should ensure that they are not high in fats.

Most fresh fruits and vegetables are low in fat, calories and salt. Many are high in fibre. They provide lots of simple chain carbohydrates ( natural sugars ) to increase the energy levels , they also provide a wide range of essential vitamins and minerals especially the anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants such as vitamins A, C and E help slow down the aging process by mopping up free radicals which have been shown to damage cells and reduce its life.

Some fruits and vegetables are known to contain thousands of Phytochemicals, which are special molecules produced by plants to keep themprotected from insects and many diseases.The health properties of Phytochemicals are passed onto us when we eat fresh fruit and vegetables, providing us with optimum health and increased energy levels.

It is obvious that we need vitamins for increased energy levels, which we can get if we eat right.
