We all know that Vitamins are vital for our health and well being. But we are always confused about the our daily vitamin requirement. Some people tend to stick to the US Recommended Daily Allowance when it comes to daily vitamin intake. But unfortunately, you wont benefit from that. The RDA was formulated to treat vitamin deficiency diseases like Beri Beri, Scurvy etc. For optimal health you need to consider your daily calorie intake and incorporate various natural and supplementary vitamin sources to meet your daily vitamin requirements.

Some people also pop in vitamin tablets and think they are done with it. But most of them are unaware that they might be taking vitamins that do not help them at all. Vitamin supplements in the form of tablets often fail to dissolve in your stomach acid. This causes them to pass through your system without giving you any benefit.

So firstly, you need to check if you are taking the right form of Vitamin Supplement or not and secondly, you need to check if you have been taking them in the right quantity or not.

To check if you are benefiting from the form of your Vitamin Supplement, try dropping your vitamin tablet in a glass of water and see if it starts disintegrating in 30-45 mins. If it dissolves completely in 4-5 hours, your body must have absorbed the vitamins. If the tablet doesn’t dissolve, then I’m afraid all the while you never benefited from your Vitamin tablets.

Coming to the right quantity, lets see how much you require

Vitamin A – 5,000 IU

Beta Carotene – 5000 –15000 IU

Folic Acid – 400 – 800 mcg
.
Vitamin B6 – 50 – 200 mg

Vitamin B3 (Niacin) – 25 mg

Vitamin B12 – 50 – 100 mcg

Pantothenic Acid – 25 – 150 mg

Biotin – 30 – 300 mcg

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) – 10 – 50 mg

Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) – 10 – 50 mg

Vitamin C – 250 – 2000 mg

Vitamin D – 400 – 800 IU
